6th Grade Exploration Recap

No regrets graffitti

We really enjoyed Exploration. It was fun and relaxed but also educational — a nice way to learn and present more about what we believe in, and a good way to express our opinions creatively using many different art forms that we enjoy. Having all of the different “formats” (singing, dancing, poetry, visual art, stop motion, etc.) to choose from helped people have more freedom and confidence getting the message they wanted to share across.

We think having Exploration right after winter break helped us ease back into the rhythm of school from a relaxed vacation. One particular part of Exploration that we enjoyed was the field trips. They helped us understand how art could change the world and had some hands-on examples that we couldn’t find or experience anywhere else.

A thing that we think could improve is that we should have a longer time to work on our projects. The 3-day time frame restricted us from pushing ourselves to do the absolute best possible. Another thing that could improve is to be a bit more informative about Exploration expo. We had our projects and everything ready, but we really didn’t know what to expect. A final suggestion is that because our field trip to the Nuyorican Cafe was on the final day of Exploration, we really didn’t have anything that we could use the information that we learned on that trip on. We think it would have been better if we had that trip before Exploration Expo and some other “grand finale” like a poetry slam or something. Overall, we really enjoyed Exploration and are very excited for our next Exploration!
