Spanish

At Bridges, we believe there are many benefits to studying a foreign language during the middle school years.  In 7th and 8th grades, through three to four periods a week in Spanish class, students are exposed to other cultures. They have the opportunity to experiment with language and deepen their understanding of grammar.  Our Spanish classes give students another place to practice their discussion skills, spur their vocabulary development, and lay the groundwork for future language study.

Our Spanish classes are taught primarily in Spanish through an immersion approach. The entire lesson is taught in Spanish and students have the opportunity to ask questions in English at the end of each class. Lessons include speaking, reading, writing and listening and assume that students have no prior knowledge of Spanish. The use of physical movement, objects, images, music, and dialogue help us immerse students in the Spanish language in a way that promotes their understanding of the language.
