MS8 Joins CHAMPS Middle School Sports League!

Our middle school joined NYC’s CHAMPS Sports and Fitness League for public middle schools this winter. Our first team is our Step Team, coached by Theresa Soto. The Elite Steppers started practicing in January and have already started performing at school pep rallies.

Last Friday’s Exposition was a beautiful celebration of the incredible independent thinking and group experiences of all three middle school grades’ Explorations. There was a wonderful turnout of students, parents and family members.

This past Monday, PS 8’s middle school chorus went on a field trip. It wasn’t just any trip; it was a trip to Baryshnikov Arts Center in Manhattan for a professional workshop with Pig Iron, a theatre group based in Philadelphia.

Exploration #1: Middle School Community!

Our first exploration of the year was a study on community. We spent some time thinking about what kind of community we want to have at our middle school and what we need to each do to create it together.

Middle School Exploration Expo: Spring 2014

Our second year at PS 8’s middle school ended not with a whimper but a bang, to paraphrase T.S. Eliot’s final stanza of “The Hollow Men.” We had our final Exploration celebration and it was quite a memorable finish.
