Mandarin
What is your background and education?
I was born and raised in China, where I lived until the age of 21. I then moved to the UK to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of London, where I earned my master’s degree at 22. After that, I continued my professional development in the United States and obtained New York State certification as a Mandarin teacher.
How long have you been teaching?
I have been teaching since 2008. I began my career teaching English as a Foreign Language in China. In 2011, I moved to the UK and started teaching Mandarin. Since relocating to New York in 2018, I have continued teaching Mandarin Chinese to students of diverse backgrounds and proficiency levels.
What is your favorite part of teaching?
My favorite part of teaching is building meaningful communication with my students through the target language. I enjoy integrating authentic materials into my lessons to help students develop real-world language skills while deepening their understanding of Chinese culture.
What do you like to do outside of school?
Outside of school, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends. I love cooking, exploring parks and museums, and creating memorable experiences with my son.
