Special Education
Merinda George-Jones (known as Mrs. GJ) was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She has held various teaching/administrative positions over the past 22 years, both in New York and Virginia. Her experiences include serving as a teacher of all grades from Pre-K through 11th grade as a general/special education teacher, an administrative aide, a lead teacher, and as the Special Education Department Co-Chair. She has a Master’s Degree in Special Education as well as Administration and Supervision.
She enjoys seeing students blossom from year to year–watching as they grow and change. She also becomes amazed when students have that a-ha moment when they realize they finally get it!
She loves to learn. Outside of teaching, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She enjoys traveling, going to church, and listening to music.
