What is Courage?

students dancing to African drum music with Sidiki

During the first two weeks of June, 6th graders participated in discussions, viewed films, visited the Museum of Jewish Heritage, 9/11 Museum, and met many different people who have demonstrated courage in some way in their lives. As they have these experiences, they were continuously asked to return to these questions: What is courageWhat kind of courage does this person have? In what different ways do people demonstrate courage? Who do we know that is courageous? How will our understanding of courage deepen as we learn more?
Sidiki Conde who lost the use of his legs when he was fourteen returned to MS8 for his inspiring presentation,  teaching African dance and music to our 6th graders.

Our courageous 6th graders also faced down their fears with the help of some amazing coaches and tackled the Ninja and Parkour courses at One Bridge Park!
MS8 would like to send out a HUGE thank you to one of our supporters, Everyday Athlete!
